The South Union and North Union "protected bike lane" is even worse. It is suicidal to try and use it currently. Please consider getting rid of it so the entire width of the road including bike lane can be plowed properly.

I've been bike commuting year-round for the past two years and rarely in the winter after a snow event can I use the protected bike lane on North and South Union. Please keep the lane, but maintain it so that we can have protection.

This is what it looked like this evening 5pm Friday.

Where bike lanes are now marked on North Ave, they were kept clearer when it was four lanes. Then there was a need to keep all 4 lanes clear. Now it seems the space between the curb and the sidewalk is not sufficient space for large amounts of snow fall. Please update the policy and response to remove snow to the curb with a loader. I have noticed a great alternative is plowing the bike path...much safer than North Ave currently.

Remove the protected bike lanes in the winter to allow for:

1. Proper snow plowing.
2. Prevent unnecessary parking bans a day after a storm to widen roads for emergency vehicles on roads intentionally narrowed by DPW.
3. Prevent the destruction of the cheap plastic barriers.

Its almost like the leadership at DPW lacks common sense.
