Update; As of 6-1-13: The owner of record of the lot has been cited. I made contact with the "care of" party regarding the need to mow the tall grasses and weeds. This is an estate property that may prove difficult to have the "owners" mitigate according to the current ownership arrangement under prevailing laws. Probate Court proceedings with parties of interest and their attorneys in this matter are in progress now to settle the estate and hopefully this will yield a responsible party that takes some initiative for recurring maintenance of the vacant lot. Otherwise, we may have to clear the lot for them.
I spoke to the attorney representing one of the parties at interest in the estate of the owners of this property. He advises the court hearing to address the ownership issues at this property has been postponed 45 days. The same circumstances apply to the vacant home on 407 W. Home Ave. Same owners, same situation. Please note that we are very limited in our capacity to enforce city ordinances when the "owners' are legally listed as an estate and are involved in court proceeding to resolve issues with the estate. We would like to see this matter resolved sooner rather than later. It is largely out of our hands until the ownership issues are resolved in court. We will continue to monitor the progress and report any new developments.
