It was terrible tonight. This is an ongoing issue that our city govt needs to take care of. The neighborhood around Fletchers and GPD are being put in a dangerous situation every week because of this bar. When something horrible happens, and it’s just a matter of time, I will look to the top first for answers to why this was allowed to continue week after week. The top city officials and the top GPD officials need to sit down and resolve this problem.

Agreed. The bar is not the issue for me, it's the people driving down neighborhood roads with music so loud my windows shake, and parking all along NW 6th street (the side road). I was driving home Friday night and was blocked in on this street by cars and people. They were driving through the grass and parking everywhere blasting music - right next to residences! GPD was called last night by several people - they did nothing. The music continued and I was unable to sleep.

I am going to agree, as well. The noise from the vehicles is unacceptable. Last night (like in the past) the vehicles sat in the 6th street shopping center plaza and blasted music through speakers. I had to deal with my windows rattling for hours. They might as well have been sitting in my bedroom playing the music. Not only is the music an issue - they were in the parking lot revving their engines and speeding in and out of the parking lot. The trash that is left behind is an eyesore. I feel for these folks that have to come into work in the morning and clean that mess up. Something needs to be done.

Yes surveying the area this morning it's clear that the people coming to the area for Fletchers have ZERO respect for our neighborhoods. They race up and down the streets, they blast music so loud I can't hear my TV over it, and they litter the streets with waste. When I drove out to 6th Street this morning there were beer cans, red solo cups, fast food trash, etc littering the roads, parking lots, and green spaces from University Ave all the way up to GPD. I've been told GPD doesn't have the manpower to handle what happens at Fletchers. Would you want to be one of two or three cops walking into Flechers last night? One thing goes wrong and they would be in SERIOUS danger. I've been told personally by a GPD officer that they are helpless against what goes on there. Shutting down 5th Ave and 6th Street doesn't work, they just go deeper into our neighborhoods. Calling in noise complaints doesn't work because you can't stop a moving car for noise violations. So is our city and our police force really telling Gainesville citizens "Sorry, just deal with it"? I would like a GPD Supervisor and the Code Enforcement Supervisor to have a meeting of the minds and solve this ongoing nuisance. You are paid to protect the citizens of Gainesville and our neighborhoods not tell us there's no solution.

It honestly might be as simple as changing the laws back to being able to stop moving cars for noise violations. I think if they couldn't blast their music the whole thing would lose its luster for them. Just park a couple patrol cars and give out noise violation citations for a night or two and they might just move on to somewhere more isolated.

GPD continues to monitor the parking, traffic and noise situation surrounding the area of Fletcher's Lounge and will take enforcement action as needed on a case-by-case basis.
