On the exit for Gratiot from westbound 696 there should be a sign that lets drivers know the direction of traffic flow on westbound 11 Mile Rd/696 Service Drive. Left lane for turning left on Gratiot or going straight across, middle lane for going straight across or turning right on Gratiot, and right lane for right turn ONLY. When drivers exit and want to turn right they think they have to get in the right lane to turn and it ties up traffic as a lot of drivers want to get all the way over which creates a backup on 11 Mile/696 Service Drive.
