This is a daily occurrence. The issue should not be closed until the City motivates the Post Office to stop risking lives.

This complaint has been sent to the East District Commander, The Post Master General, City Hall as well as Parking Enforcement. Parking Enforcement can only issues summons for parking illegally to keep a paper trail of Parking Offenses. We do not have the Authority to tow a USPS truck. Please note that we have addressed the Supervisors on duty at the post office regarding this matter on several occasions.

You need to resolve this once and for all. Although you believe that you cannot tow and your summons are ignored, the City does indeed control the streets. Think about curb bump outs, temporary barricades fixed to the pavement, or other means to make these illegal and unsafe parking spaces unavailable.

Escalate this to City Hall and confirm that contact has been made. Provide the name of the responsible official.

Every night and every weekend Post Office trucks are parked illegally within a four block radius of the main post office. They consistently park in the no parking areas of intersections causing pedestrians and motorist zero vision at cross walks. This is a life and safety issue at this point. Does someone have to die to fix this on going issue.

Summer is coming and the pedestrian traffic will increase and more people will be at risk of getting run over. Illegal parking is illegal parking.. tow them all.

This issue is really out of control. The life and safety of pedestrians and drivers is at risk on a daily basis. Does someone really have to be killed before something is done!!!!! These vehicles need to obey the law like everyone else period. This illegal behavior by UPS needs to stop.

John O, why did you post a picture of a dead rabbit and a Easter egg basket? That is very inappropriate and should have been reported to Animal Control as possible "cruelty to animals". This isn't related to this parking issue and if you wanted to post this, you should have referred this to Animal Control at 201-547-4888.
Hopefully, there is a camera that recorded who killed this helpless animal!!!

Please provide the name and number of the City Hall contact. Post it here and supply to me via email. We all need to reach out to someone that can actually resolve this. 3-4 months for merely a response is completely unacceptable.

More of the same unfortunately. It is really dangerous for Paulus Hook families. If the city chooses not to tow, why can’t it boot? The residents and city seem to be being ignored, so the only permanent solution is taking away the spaces through wide sidewalks and bump outs. Thankyou.

Hi there. This issue has been closed by the resident response center - does that mean it has been fixed? It definitely wasn’t as of Sunday, when usps trucks continued to be parked in a life-threatening manner. with the now-daily backups of traffic into Paulus hook due to changes in the traffic patterns - new traffic lights on grand and well-meaning bike path on Montgomery with unintended consequences - this issue has become even more dangerous. I may be new to this system but I really don't understand what is going on. This issue seems to have been bouncing around for 2.5 years. Why has nothing been completed? On 3/4/2021, Jennifer C stated that the issue would be dealt with this spring and yet it has not. What is the current status?

This issue is still ongoing on March of 2022. Are you kidding me? You closed it??? Keep closing it? The post office trucks now park in the area marked for Handicapped people. This issue been going on for 3 years now. What has been the solution??? Get these trucks to park in a garage. Simple solution. Build a garage deck 3 to 4 floors and have them park there. Why are they still parking on the streets? I find this hilarious as its been 3 years and every year "We are working on solution" You could have built a 3 story parking garage for these Post Office trucks by now. '

Is the truck still parked in the handicap spot? Why won't parking authority ticket & get it towed?

Because jersey city has no authority over federal truck. Also if the truck gets towed how you gonna get your mail and package? Lmao. You gotta think about that. What if it has your tax return and now the truck is towed?

Nobody can tow the USPS or ticket. The USPS trucks dont even have license plates. They're federal trucks. Usps is a federal agency trumping over any city and state agency.

Post office trucks cannot be towed nor ticketed. Its a fed truck. It has jurisdiction over state and city.

If it gets towed what if your tax return is on that truck or your bills that you might be past due because truck is towed? You gotta think about that. Lol

This issue seems to have been bouncing around for 3.5 years. Why has nothing been completed? On 3/4/2021, Jennifer C stated that the issue would be dealt with "this spring" (meaning spring 2021) and yet it has not. in August 2021 this was recategorized as a pedestrian study request. Now it's been bounced back to Traffic.

What is the current status?

I just spoke with an aid at Councilperson Solomon's office about this long standing problem (as well as the suspiciously subjective parking enforcement in the same area.) - ended the call realizing that absolutely NOTHING will come of this. Give up and just look carefully so that you don't get killed crossing at any of these intersections. USPS PH simply does not care.

Call the National Law Enforcement Communication Center (NLECC) operated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at (877) 696-5322. NLECC will contact the appropriate facility to respond.

I called and told them about it and was passed to the office of the Inspector General. That office gave me the number (732) 819-3260 to call. Of course, Consumer Affairs at that number was unavailable but I left name/phone and a brief description. Everyone could try to do the same and see whether we can get a response with a significant number of calls (unless you have already been through this process and it's a dead end).
