Hi and thank you for reporting. Glad you're enjoying the newly paved street at Gardeau. Last spring, the main farms using those streets agreed to limit their use. You should not see these farms during the following times:
never before 7am,
never after 7pm,
never on a Sunday,
never any time on 1st, 3rd or 5th Saturdays: 9/4, 9/18, 10/2, 10/16, 10/30, 11/6, 11/20 etc
Additionally, they acknowledge these are the minimums and will endeavor to use the longer route that goes down route 39 when possible. I am observing many farm trucks from the affected farm on Main Street/route 39 so that appears to be happening as well.
This was where things landed in terms of mediating a solution that tries to provide predictability to when neighbors can expect no farm trucks on these routes, while acknowledging that farms are important neighbors to the village as a whole, an important part of our economy and our identity. Appreciate that a compromise often makes no one happy, but this is where things landed.
To your other concerns about speeding, I agree and have asked the police chief to keep a close eye on speeds and full stops during harvest season. Stopping distances get exponentially longer for every mile per hour above 30.
If you observe farm trucks on Gardeau Street, Borden Avenue or Covington Street during the above times, please call the village 237 2216 or if after hours, email me rhauser@villageofperry.com so I can try to address it in a timely manner.
Thanks again for using SeeClickFix to communicate with the village.
