It's for real. If I recall correctly, they have also dedicated the northbound Moreland left lane as turn only. I also like how they have calmed the northbound Briarcliff traffic & made it safer to turn NB & SB by replacing the left lane with a median turn lane.
Wow! That's incredible Brendan, thanks for the pic. That intersection began plaguing me a decade ago when I first moved to Atlanta. I believe I pinpointed it as being at the unique juncture of 3 geographical agencies (City of Atlanta, Fulton and Dekalb Counties) and could never get anyone to respond.
Either this site is magic, or they had already planned to do it without informing the public. I truly hope sites like this will continue to play a major role in governments doing projects citizens actually want.

Don't be skeptical! It's fixed and it's great! Traffic moves much faster now... just wish it was a more pedestrian-friendly intersection.
