622 Avenida de Mayo (but states 624 on the mailbox) has been renting illegally for the past 5 weeks. Cars, garbage, and people coming and going in this single family residential neighborhood. Only 1 month rentals are allows and clearly this is not the case. This home has had an issue renting illegally and illegal permitting done since we can remember. Cant you guys do something to stop the Homeowner who clearly defies the rules?

More expensive = more Property taxes.. Yes, i was formally top agent on SK and an expert witness on real estate matters. Not stating i know everything, Please share why illegal rents are good for any community? Maybe our laws are wrong?..Do tell..
Taxes collected are based on revenue ie more revenue = more taxes.
"What were my taxes?" Actually I contribute 7 figures per year to community needs, if even relevant.
Bringing transient renters into RSF neighborhood is morally wrong. Some residences are retired, some work and we even have single mothers,,, Transient rental lived nextdoor to owner is not conducive to their rights/hold the right to quiet enjoyment and can destroy the meaning of a "neighborhood", Why? People don;t police themselves. Illegally renting is just that "illegal" = doesn't hold entitlements. They also stress emergence services as well as waste management and YES they do steal from LEGAL rentals. Probably best to discuss outside this platform.. Feel free to message me your number to discuss further.

I am in favor on people of who pay taxes for their home, to be able to do what they want to do with it. Soon the state will take over anyways, so that will no longer be an issue for everyone who has a problem with it. I have 5 annual rentals of which 3 I had to evict because they were horrible to neighbors, doing drug deals and leaving garbage out and never taking back the cans. The places were trashed. Takes 2 months to get these people out. Are these the people you want renting annually instead?
Yes, our laws are wrong. Where does a place that has 30% of the neighborhood, not full time residences and are rentals, but still think its a non vacation type of place?
I am really unsure how it "stresses out" emergency services with just the non conforming rentals and for waste management. If there is quiet enjoyment you so lack, call the police, that's a noise ordinance and I have full time neighbors that give me that same issues though and they own the home. If you have problems with garbage cans, then be proactive on this, waste management would come to the side of the house for an extra fee and the home owner should be accountable to do this, but since it is not allowed, no one can talk about making these changes.
Unfortunately, it's a broken record of the same things instead of being proactive and actually helping the situation.
Remember Uber? City of Sarasota was trying to ban them from our roads, yet not knowing what Uber was. Now how does Uber help our community and transportation? Allowing families to come to Sarasota and siesta key to support the businesses is a plus to keep the village and everything else to stay in business and thrive. A family of 6 is not staying at a hotel and there are only a handful of places they can actually stay at, of which are more than likely booked. You should know since you are an expert at real estate matters in the area and I am not, that Siesta Key used to be a ghost town in the summer...it hasn't been lately and where do you think these family stay, a 1 room hotel?
It's obvious you have vested interest in RMF properties, so this is completely one sided and it will all change one day instead of having a rule that was around from 1986 and the county not wanting to give up power, so the state does not take over. They can only hold on so long to this rule and everyone will have more time to complain about golf carts on the road and what to do if people ride their bikes the wrong direction.
Phone is too impersonal. Face to face is much better.
I really hope the county feels great about this system they have in place here.

Nicely said, Michael. There are so many in and around that street that it’s very out of control.
You are a true factual person reciting laws that should be enforced. However, just look at all the complaints levied against all of the Homeowners on Avenida de Mayo alone. I can list them here but they know who they are. The lies, deceitfulness and arrogance is immeasurable— hard on those that follow the RSF rules that live here and want no more transients.
Thank you for your brilliant responses based on knowledge.

Idea: Everyone start treating their neighbor like they'd like to be treated.. If breaking the law has a negative affect on your neighbor, my guess, the reason it's in place.
Chad, Illegal rentals do hurt neighborhood values. Just because you feel the law is "wrong", does NOT give you entitlements to break 'em. That said, My home is located in an RMF neighborhood. Transient guests can cause me stress at times but, i knew the zoning when i purchased. People make purchases for all different needs.. Many residences love the Key but made their purchase based on RSF zoning.. What gives you the right to dictate how they have chosen to live their lives.. Not being combative, just trying to understand. How would you like a transient rental next door to your homestead?
I did purchase based on GC and RMF zoning, and at a much higher price than you. After the red tide many owners did NOT make it and the rest barely crawled to season. Was literally a month away from laying off staff. Took a personal injection/commitment just to make payroll for months on end. Let's hope 2019/20 doesn't repeat. Can't understand how you can possibly say the millions and millions in lost revenue across SK due to illegal rentals steal is okay?
