This must be addressed asap. These are not local Alameda's that are homeless. As Oakland continues to move people around they are dumping their problem on us. Go look at the parking area next to Home Depot in Oakland. There are a lot of people that live in their cars and work everyday and choose not to have to rent a place to live and it is making Alameda worse by the day.

now that APD won’t enforce the law to clear an encampment, what solutions are there?

frustrated here that encampments are popping up and staying.

revolt and overthrow the city government. thats our only option at this point. that or we can just sit here and let this continue forever

reopening this issue because "assigned to hlos" does not mean "closed" stop abusing the "Close" button to sweep issues under the rug. we know you guys dont want to do your jobs but thats no excuse for closing issues without fixing them

The issue remains open from back in April with no resolution. If the encampments are going to be allowed in Alameda the city has to at least take responsibility for cleaning up the debris and blight. There is evidence of illegal dumping becoming worse. The Oakland side of the tubes are reprehensible and now moving towards Alameda.

City is working diligently to implement programs to address homelessness on the island. City is opening a Day Center and Safe Parking in July and August, respectively. Because of the 9th Circuit decision on Boise, which was upheld by the Supreme Court in January 2020, homeless individuals occupying public lands and public parks cannot be asked to move unless an alternative shelter our housing can be offered in the jurisdiction where they can be moved. Alameda currently does not have this option, therefore, occupants of encampments on City property cannot be asked to move. Outreach is offered to residents at encampments. People living in their cars may park safely at night at the Safe Parking. Homeless folks can use the day center. Both programs will work on helping individuals end their homelessness by connecting them to services.
