This is nothing new. This is an ongoing problem. I don't understand how DPW could tell anyone there is no parking on this street- the following is what was sent out to residents:
"ZONE C: ALL RESIDENTIAL AREAS - No parking on the odd side.
On a ZONE C residential street: Don't be the ODD car on the block!
The parking ban on all posted snow routes will be enforced with an overnight tag/tow operation starting at 11PM."

The problem arises because typically there IS parking on the ODD side only so it is really pretty stupid to have to move cars to the opposite side as it accomplishes NOTHING. Lyon Street is typically one of the last streets plowed anyway and they run down the middle once or today twice leaving lots of snow on both sides so nobody could park even if they wanted to. And YES, the few cars on the ODD side were not towed.... there was certainly plenty of time before the plowing here began. It could have happened last night before too much snow fell.

Agreed! I think it's confusing and there needs to be better communication from the city (we can park on even side during street sweeping) and I would have assumed this was the case for snow too had I not gone to a management team meeting. Including a photo of what the street currently looks like.

Are we supposed to wait officially to hear the ban is lifted or just assume it has been because the storm is long over? There are plenty of cars parked on the odd side of St John. Some of them are rather far into the center of the street because plows piled up a lot of snow against the curb.

Neil, per the announcement Zone C ban is until further notice:

Mayor Toni N. Harp has announced A CITYWIDE PARKING BAN in effect on all streets in New Haven starting at 11PM tonight, SUNDAY (3/3/19) and will be in effect in zones A & B until 12PM noon MONDAY (3/4/19) and remain in effect in zone C until further notice. Please stay alert for updates as conditions develop.

The street is a MESS. The plows need to come through and clean both sides of the street BEFORE everyone gets home from work, PLEASE

Agreed. It is terrible and is going to cause problems all week.

Is anyone listening? The snow problem has been ongoing for many years. It's time the city paid attention to us and assure our safety. Thank you whoever is listening....

We are closing all the remaining open and acknowledged "snow issues" to get ready for the 2021-2022 season. We appreciate your feedback and adjusted where we could. Over the past year, we have added Public Space Inspectors who can help alleviate some of the snow issues by issuing warnings and tickets. As always, we encourage residents' cooperation and patience.
