I agree fully. The area is currently being brought out of the slums of town and doesn't need this brought back to it.
Ya have $300,000 homes being built in the neighborhood and then ya have a halfway house.
I fear the city has no insight to the social aspect of a halfway house location and how it would better benefit the former inmates when in areas with high commercial properties for easy employment.....not in neighborhoods where kids could be negatively influenced.
We are all products of our environments, and I see no need in damaging the environment of the children that live there.

This is a disaster and just plain cruel to a residential neighborhood! The boarding house has been vacant for twenty years and isn't grandfathered under the single family zoning so this is illegal. The house should be renovated as the only allowed use which is residential and single family only. It looks like a new roof has been added. Is there a building permit and if so, what is the scope of work Kupec put on the permit application???

The owners are still working on the house. Has the inspection department moved on this issue? I am very concerned.

Zoning Administration

OI don't live in the area, but I teach GED classes at the Butler Terrace Rental Office on the other side of Governor's Drive on Seminole Drive. Due to the Salvation Army being diagonally across the street, we have many issues with folks dropping trash all over the place, trying to camp out on this Federal property and sometimes using the bathroom against the wall going to my classroom. I know we need halfway houses, but in a residential neighborhood with many children, this is a bad idea. Also, if a halfway house goes in, neighbors will need to constantly keep their doors locked! I know: my mother in Nashville just went from her front yard to the back tgo show someone some flowers, and $15,000 worth of jewelry was stolen - within minutes. I hope that residents of this area will go to City Council and complain. Who is your council member? Is it Bill Kling?
