Jane Doe, thats my point, if people did the spped limit, there would not be any rear enders! It needs a light, period.

Just what we need another traffic light. People will speed up to make the light. Everyone just needs to drive the posted speed limit. Already too many stop signs and red lights in this area.

I see your point but you wronlgy assume that most people are rational, good people that obey the posted speed limits and stop signs. Have you really seen most drivers ahere to the 45mph spped limit on RT 926 and if you haven't, how do you make them change their behaviors? I don't think just asking them nicely will do the trick.

I don't think asking them nicely will do the trick. But a good start would be all the people who live in the area drive the speed limit. If I drive the speed limit and you are behind me you don't have much of a choice but to drive the speed limit also. Someone posted on one of these posts that the statistics are that when the police do speed enforcement 75 % of the people speeding live in the area. If those 75% drive the speed limit unless there is no traffic the other 25% are gonna have a hard time speeding. Same story I don't want anybody speeding on my street but I can speed anywhere I want. Same thing with the people who complain about cut through traffic. I don't want anybody driving on my street but I can drive through any neighborhood I want.

I am not saying this because of your response but I really do drive the speed limit in and out of our neighborhoods/area. I have a 4 cyl hybrid so it fits my style of driving. Ok, I agree with you but just not sure if by the 75% adhering to the speed limint, it will change the behavior of the other 25%. If that were the case, why would we be expereriencing an issue currently? I guess 75% of commuters who use these roads do not drive the speed limit then.
