Agreed that this intersection is dangerous, particularly in light of the school.
When driving north on W. Rock across Edgewood, the parked cars on the left make it impossible to see oncoming traffic that is accelerating from the Central / Edgewood intersection. Not a good combination.

Another suggestion might be to post "no parking" signs in front of the spots blocking the safe view of the oncoming traffic. Likely this would affect 2-3 spots on the southwest corner of the intersection. (Not ideal for those who currently park there, but it'd be a lot safer than it is now)

Thank you city of New Haven for recategorizing this issue to a Traffic Signal/Pedestrian Signal issue. I look forward to your fixing this dangerous situation.

This was reported to the city when Mr. Wessel was head of traffic enforcement...nothing then nothing now....cannot lose those parking spots in front of the school....

While I would support traffic calming measures or mirrors here I disagree with putting in a traffic light. Traffic lights cause people to speed up in order to make the light or run the light all together. Driving slowly into the intersection to see who is coming is not a bad thing. Slower driving by everyone is what will improve safety. The speed limit on Edgewood on this stretch should be 15 MPH.

I don't know the solution but I'd think some mirrors would be a good start. It is very difficult to see and I have witnessed an accident here. Also, as a pedestrian I find it very tricky to cross. Despite the "It's the law" stop and the crosswalk signs that seem to come and go, I rarely have anyone stop to let me cross. Perhaps a light would help both cars and pedestrians navigate here.

Mr. Marchand said that Mr. Hausladen has not returned his telephone call. I suggest we post this issue to our respective Facebook pages to bring this to the attention of our neighbors. The city has been aware of this dangerous intersection for over a year and done nothing. I wonder how Mayor Harp feels about this issue? Please consider posting this to her Facebook page and asking for some of our tax money to be spent rectifying this dangerous (to us and our children) situation. Thank you Adam for advocating for this issue.

I was very pleased to see a speed monitor sign up recently here, hopefully encouraging people to be more mindful of their speed. However it was only for cars going eastbound-- no sign in the other direction. And only there for a few days. Most recently I spotted car pieces in the road--perhaps yet another accident caused by this dangerous intersection. This continues to be a real hazard.
