John assigned this issue to Construction Code Official

I seem to remember the developer assuring us they would not be using pile drivers but helical pile. I live near as well and it my house as well was shaking an abnormal amount. Not to mention the noise which I'm sure is quite disruptive to the school across the street.

After a brief break, the pile driving has resumed, and the shaking is even worse than it was early this morning.

Marlene, can the work be stopped please until the permit is verified for helical pile. Thank you.

The shaking of our building was very reminiscent of earthquakes I’ve experienced in Los Angeles. These buildings were built in the 1890’s/1900’s and are not retrofitted to withstand constant shaking. I am afraid that the constant shaking will compromise the integrity of the structure.

John or Waseem...can we get an explanation from the developer why they are using this type of pile driving? Please ask them to reach out to you, the forum here and the VVPA . Thanks..

Marlene, is there a reason it is taking so long to have this issue addressed? Is there anything else we should be doing short of chaining ourselves (1970s style) to the pile driver? Obviously this is a deep concern for the residents of the neighborhood. If the permit does not allow for pile driving, can the JCPD stop the work?

I'm not exaggerating or imagining this, honestly: the vibrations are worse today than they were yesterday. Much worse.

Apparently the developer DOES have a permit to pile drive. I would like to see the permit. I have never experienced such a lack or response from a City and its officials. The level of caring on this issue is appalling.

Wondering: can a judge put a stop order on this until it is resolved? Where are our attorneys here?

RRC has requested an update from the Head of the Construction Code official through email and left voicemail to respond to these concerns as he is the only one that can weigh in on this.

From Head Construction Code Official: "Permits were issued for the construction at the site, the procedure was to pre auger the pile but still has to be hit down there is no helical piles, the area around the site has seismic monitors installed and in checking there is no location where the vibrations have been exceeded, other than feeling the vibrations if they are experiencing or seeing actual damage to email me of the specific address so it can be followed up consolidate all complaints to reflect that. Actually it would be helpful if David, RJoskow, LRivera, EVasquez, could go door to door on Bright and Varick to get together to form a group to connect with the city officials to make known those affected.

How can this be closed by the Construction Code Official is there has not been any indication that a site visit was made and a report was placed in the comment section. The statement: if you have structural issues email me at raymondm@jcnj.org .... means nothing. ??
