There are no parking regulations I know of. The City is going to be posting South 144th Street in front of the library with 4 hour parking only tow away signs that PD will enforce. I hope this will open up more parking.

Who manages the properties there? You cant go to the coffee shop or library because the parking lots are so full but for the amount of vehicles to the amount off people at the coffee shop or library it does not add up.

There was a issue about this Tukwila Village parking on this board a couple of months ago. It was determined that the Tukwila Village parking belongs to SHAG, not the Library. The Library has 11 parking spaces right next to the building. SHAG shares the parking with the building that has the coffee shop in it when there are meetings etc, there. Other than that is really SHAG's employee's and resident's parking. So actually people going to the library etc, should not be parking there. SHAG does not "enforce" parking there, yet. I wouldn't want to keep complaining at this point or they just might! Better just to let it go at this point I would think. Hopefully someone reading this can look up the old complaint to verify what I am posting!

Wow! "NO REGULATIONS"...seriously...I can park on public property whenever, for whatever reason, and for however long I want!? This problem just got worse.

Don't know where you are getting NO REGULATIONS from. The parking lot is not public property, it belongs to SHAG. The city is putting in 4 hour parking only signs on the public street (144th), which should help Library goers.

Tukwila library is 10,000 sq ft with 11 parking spots, while Valley View library is 6500 sq ft and has approximately 25 spots (I’d have to actually count the next time I’m there, this is from memory). Doesn’t make any sense, especially given the Valley View library parking lot is usually at least 3/4 full everytime I go there. I’ve been meaning to go check out the new Tukwila library, but with all the parking hassles I keep hearing about, sad to say that I won’t even bother to try.

It's all in the thread. The original question asked about regulations AND if SHAG had rights. The OFFICIAL response did NOT address SHAG in any manner, and DID say "no regulations known".

If it belongs to SHAG, fine, would the city please let us know that? I hope taxpayers got reimbursed for it. AND, that still leaves a parking issue for the coffee shop, Sullivan Center AND library.

A brand new library and nowhere to park. Doesn't make any sense.If SHAG residents and visitors are allowed to take up parking that should be for library people, eventually they're going to go elsewhere and then what was the purpose of building the library and spending all that taxpayers money? What a waste of tax dollars. This should have been thought about before the building were constructed. Bad planning on the city's part. Visitors and residents of SHAG should stick to parking on the south side of 144th Street & should be fined if found parked in library parking lot. SHAG residents are wealthy, they can afford to be ticketed. The rest of us can't.

Issue is not closed in the sense of nothing will be done. I am waiting for the city to install the 4 hour tow away signs on South 144th. Once installed, and a 72 hour reasonable time period for car owners to notice the new signs, I shall begin enforcing them to free up more parking. Thanks!

Was just at Valley View library and counted the spots. There are actually 33 spots. 1 spot per 197 sq ft of space, while the new Tukwila library has only 1 spot per 900 sq ft of space.
