  This issue has only gotten worse in the last month since I reported. In addition it has been reported nearly daily by others. Does Oakland even care or is this web reporting just a stall tactic for an inefficient and ineffective government? Please resolve before someone is injured by these enormous potholes.

  These potholes are the size of crators, and cause trucks to dangerously drive down the road, swerving from side to side to try and avoid them. Please fix this road, it is crazy dangerous for everyone!

  My car's alignment is completely messed up after just 3 weeks of driving to and from work in this area. There is dirty water splashing everywhere and cars swerving all over the road to avoid them but almost hitting another vehicle or person!

  Also to add, huge semi trucks use this area as a "rest stop". They park, walk around, and leave their trucks blocking the entire street and accessible parking, what there is anyway. (both ways). This makes it extremely difficult to get around while trying to find a safe spot to park. I have almost gotten hit by semi trucks barreling down the street.

  Driving on Lesser Street and Tidewater are the worst, especially on a rainy day. If you are not familiar with the location of the numerous crators in the road, you will damage your car.

  Cars are bottoming out on the gigantic potholes all day long. Even large trucks are having problems navigating this minefield. I am sure that many cars have been damaged on this road, and the problem is getting visibly worse every week. Without exaggeration, I can say that I have never driven a worse road in a city anywhere in the US, and only rarely in third-world countries. Please do something about it!

  This is a real safety concern. Not sure if fire trucks or ambulances could quickly make their way through these "streets" if needed.

  Our company vehicles drive in this road everyday. We are experiencing extensive wear and tear on the suspension and tires due to the deteriorating road conditions. It would be much appreciated if the City of Oakland could make this a priority to fix the street.

  I Work On Lesser St And Have Found My Commute Quite Troubling. This Road Has Lead My Car Down A Spiral Of Damage And Expensive Upkeep. In The Year That I Have Been Working On Lesser St, I Have Noticed Civil Distress Amongst The Community Revolving Lesser St. I Have Seen Many Fights Break Out Between Commuters, Due To The Conditions Of The Road. I Have Witnessed Countless Tire Repair Jobs Being Made On The Side Of The Street, Due The Disrepair Of The Road. The Most Extreme Example Of What I Have Witnessed, Was A Rock That Flung Into A Parked Car, Which Lead To A Back Window Being Impacted/Broken. Its Disgusting How The City Of Oakland Can Issue Tickets On This Road, For Parking On Street Sweep Days, When The Focus Should Be On Fixing The Road. Its Not Enough To Have Street Sweep Days, When There Are Gaping Holes That Spew Out Dangerous Boulders. The Day Will Come When An Innocent By Standard Gets Hit By A Flying Rock, That Could Lead To Serious Injuries.

  These potholes have become craters over the last few months. And so many more have turned up, almost like a mortar field. When rainwater isn't present you can't tell how deep the pits are and it isn't until you drive over them that you know you've made a huge mistake. Only when dry is when you can really see how completely ridiculous the condition of Tidewater Street is.

  Look - when even large semi-trucks are swerving to avoid the numerous craters, you know that something needs to already have been done. Oakland official(s) - please, please, PLEASE help us repair Tidewater Street!

  I work on the street. An18 wheeler hit my car trying to avoid a pot hole. It was in the shop for a month.

  I understand that Tidewater is a private road. Is this correct? Even though one of the larger holes (4 feet x 3 feet) was filled, it is now sunken again. Cars are driving in various lanes to avoid the potholes.
  Who is responsible for Tidewater? Is there a repair or repaving plan and estimated timeline?

  According to the interactive map that shows Oakland's 5-year paving plan, Tidewater isn't even listed?!?!?! This is honestly the worst street I've driven on in Oakland and it doesn't seem to be a priority at all.

  For comparison, Lesser has a Pavement Condition Index (PCI) of EIGHT (8). 70-100 is considered "good" from what I can tell, and Lesser's PCI is 8. For the record, Tidewater is worse than Lesser.

  Ok I see there are lots of comments supporting this report but I had to add my voice, too.

  In a city full of streets in utterly disgraceful condition, Tidewater, I think, is the worst I've ever seen (it's even worse than Camden Street, or 69th ave between International & San Leandro St - and those two are awful). The word "potholes" does not even begin to describe it -- it looks like it was used for bombing practice by the Air Force. (I think they must have hit a bunch of vehicles, too, judging by all the wrecked cars that are parked alongside it..)

  And it's not just the corner of Tidewater and Lesser - it's the entire length of Tidewater from High Street southward.

  So why should Oakland prioritize a little industrial street like Tidewater Ave? Because it's not just an industrial street: it's the principal access - no, make that the ONLY land-based access - to the Tidewater Boating Center and the adjacent park, which are heavily used by the public (well, in better times..). Also, Tidewater is heavily used by bicyclists, pedestrians, and runners because it serves as the only way around a discontinuity in the San Francisco Bay Trail between the Tidewater Boating Center and the High Street Bridge.

  And all those drivers - all those parents dropping off or picking up rowers at the boating center every day, all those people using the park, all those cyclists & runners using the SF Bay Trail - all of them CURSE our City every time they have to suffer the disaster that is Tidewater Ave...

  Note that this got referred to CODE ENFORCEMENT. That makes me think that it is the responsibility of the property owners and not the city, for some reason. Maybe it's a private street and not marked as such? Whatever the case, the City should shed some light on why it is not getting fixed.
