Description
Overdriven pirate radio station broadcasts on 90.3 (often during commuting hours but also weekends); the station plays reggae and variants. Fine. I like reggae well enough. But it is an overdriven signal that interferes with 90.5, the local NPR affiliate, to the point that the latter is unlistenable.
So, FCC, City Hall, Po-po, whatever: find the source of the signal and shut 'em down, please.
I'd just like to point out that it's amazing that nearly EVERY facet of life in New Haven seems to be characterized by some level of criminal activity. At last, my refuge on the commute home--the voice of reason while the crazy gangbanger kids encircle my car, weaving in and out of traffic like it's their job--has been invaded. (Only matter of time, I s'pose.)
How symptomatic of the social ills in this town.

Yeah, that station SUCKS. It kills 90.1 for most of downtown Whalley.
Here is the FCC complaint page-

Is there any local authority that can be contacted? Anyone know?

I too hate that it interferes with NPR, and has been doing so on and off, for the past 15 years. But on the other hand, pirate radio is pretty cool. And I think it's great that we have people around here with something to say...
Maybe they could find some clearer air to broadcast on...

I used to broadcast over NPR'S signal years ago, only signing off when they broadcast news.
There is barely any bandwith available to the independent broadcaster.

Got an email back from the FCC concerning the complaint I filed:
"This letter is in response to your complaint, 11-C00278052, filed with the FCC.
Station WWPT is currently licensed on Frequency 90.3 MHz in Westport, CT. Since this station is currently licensed, it does not appear as though this station is operating as a prirate broadcast station."
I emailed them back saying that it is certainly not 90.3 from Westport, and haven't heard anything back from the FCC.
I also contacted WNPR, telling them of the problem, and have not hear anything back.
