They are required to place the garbage can within 2 feet of the curbside. They really need people to get the garbage cans where there are sidewalks because it violates the ADA assessability laws, but they don't have a contract to do that. If people got them, they could put them behind the sidewalk area. But at least trash cans can get moved. The telephone poles and mailboxes are also violating the ADA laws by being right in the middle of the sidewalk making some sidewalks inassessible to the disabled people. They have 2 sidewalks on Bloomfield Drive for example both sides of the sidewalks are blocked by mailboxes, but if they put the mailboxes all on one side, a disabled person would have a hard time getting to the other side of the road. They should have designed the sidewalks better and wider to accommodate the mailboxes and trash cans with a marked area for the mailboxes and trash cans. The whole city has a huge amount of ADA violations. I would just move the trash cans back behind the sidewalk. It's the leeway. You can't get charged for it.
