Description
The corner of 5th and Jersey ave. Is a very dangerous intersection. Living on the corner I have seen multiple car accidents take place in a matter of three months. On a daily basis we hear cars nearly colliding and honking their horns. Something needs to be done to fix this issue.

5th and Jersey does NOT need a traffic signal / light at this intersection. It's one block away from 6th and Jersey which already has a traffic light. If a light were to be put in at this intersection, might as well put one at 4th, 3rd and 2nd, and everyone can complain about too much stop and go traffic.
The REAL solution is to find a way to stop cars from parking near corners on Jersey, blocking view of cross-traffic. That is a Downtown-wide problem at all single stop sign intersections.

I live at this corner, and am witness to countless accidents and near misses as people roll thru the stop sign on 5th, and as people speed down Jersey Ave. I have seen and often been a victim of pure vehicular aggression towards pedestrians when attempting to cross Jersey Ave & 5th st with my wife and child. Regardless of what sign is currently posted (See link below).
**Please institute regular police (beat, car, unmarked) presence & aggressive ticketing on these routes**
There is no other answer. Stop signs create a false sense of security for pedestrians and stop lights are expensive and need to have the right timing to find the balance between effective and nuisance for this high traffic route. The police need to be seen curbing the traffic. Other towns in NJ do it, and it becomes "known" that you just dont speed on specific roads, as you will almost always get a ticket.
Heres a couple recent accidents.

Caught this gem over the weekend while taking video of the newly installed hazards disguised as an attempt to "help" while obstructing views of oncoming traffic. And shouldnt it be "Stop For Pedestrians"??? The law is not "slow down for pedestrians"
