The City has attempted to provide some relief to this stretch of concrete road using the "crack-filler-oversprayed-with-gravel" approach. I would like to say a couple of things about this:
1) the cracks and holes that were "fixed" could not have been more randomly selected. Right next to areas where this treatment was applied are many more similar areas that were not repaired, and a generous potion of areas that are MUCH worse that are NOT treated.
2) this method of "fixing" the street, as done here, results in a very poor result. It creates a very bumpy road surface where the asphalt patch overspray around the crack or hole collects it's share of the material, creating a raised edge or crater around the target. The excess gravel byproduct that litters the street is annoying (and unsafe for cyclist). Does this excess gravel simply dissipate over time, or is it eventually cleaned off by the city?
Thank you for submitting this request. This issue has been resolved or has been forwarded to the appropriate staff person. If you continue to have concerns, please let us know at 952-927-8861. Thank you!
