This is a recurring issue and needs attention as impossible to get by when tables are full with a double wide stroller and sometimes is only one way traffic possible only. the tables are sticking out too far to allow for foot traffic to pass thru properly per the ordinance. per the ordiance, they should have 6ft of clearance or more than 1/2 the width of sidewalk.With the massive potters on the sidewalk, the clearance distance between potters and table barriers is less than 6ft.

§ 296-80. - Operation of a Sidewalk Café; Projection into sidewalks. [Amended 7-20-2011 by Ord. No. 11-076]

"No Sidewalk Cafe shall project into a sidewalk more than half the width of said sidewalk, but only to a maximum of ten (10) feet. In no case shall it extend so far as to leave less than six (6) feet for pedestrian traffic"

You have to walk on the grates of the trees as the tables are sticking out too much...not up to code or ordinance.

Due to the tables sticking out, strollers have to roll over on the tree grates and is dangerous...kids can get hurt if stroller tops over or gets stuck and damage to stroller

I agree, two rows of tables is leaving the sidewalk to a single file to pass. The light horse tavern is also guilty of blocking the sidewalk.

This happens to frequently. Strollers have difficulty to pass and for small kids its a big safety issue as this is right next to light rail tracks. This issue had been raised multiple times in the past and JC closed it without any action. Shame.

Same problem again...it happens every day and all last year. Who is liable if a kid gets injured when can be prevented by the city following it's own ordinance- the city or the bar?

Wednesday 04-24-19 Inspector Barrow visited site and spoke with management
he states that their is a 6' walkway enough for a baby carriage to walk by
closing out this complaint.

There is now way there is 6ft between the tables/gate and the planters. It is measured at about 4 to 4.5 ft (max). I have seen strollers moving on the grates as not enough space. This has to be reopened and would like an accurate measurement. each one of those pavers is 2ft I believe

So are you saying there is 6ft of space per the ordinance? What type of tape measure is being used by I. Barrow? Definitely not 6ft. How do i get it escalated? Is the city liable for stroller damage or kids getting injured as not enforcing the ordinance

Please stop wasting city resources on this irrelevant complaint. I don’t know why the original poster can’t cross the street if it is such an issue. It is insane that we are solving for a double stroller issue! As a tax payer in Paulus Hook, I respectfully ask you to consider redirect city resources to where you truly need them, and not addressing this ridiculous complaint. Thanks.

Regular stroller can not fit thru without going on the grates which is unsafe...this table has to move at least...also not 6ft between the planters and tables per ordinance. Only 4-4.5 ft which easily breaks the ordinance
