Description

My family and I have lived in Smyrna now for 5 years. We purchased a home from Louis O Stacey Jr who owns "Stacey's Greenhouses" in York SC. We found out after purchasing the home that Mr. Stacey had immigrant workers living in his houses. We were told that they were "seasonal" workers and all would go home at the end of the season. So far they have never left at the end of the season, and there are about 12 houses in our neighborhood that are packed full of Mexican immigrants. They own dogs that run loose, and at one time there was more than 20 dogs loose and terrorizing the neighborhood. Our property was damaged, our children were fearful to even go outside to play in their own yard. We called Animal control more times than I can count, and after a lot of arguing got someone to come out and set a trap. I had 12 dogs on my front porch one morning because there was a female in heat and she took refuge on my front porch. Animal control FINALLY came about 3 pm and said that they would have to come back as the only way was to "take them down with a gun" and they didn't want to be doing that when school buses were dropping off children. They NEVER came back! The immigrant children did not go to school, and there was a 12 yr old girl driving up and down the road that we were fearful would kill someone. They play loud music from their cars, drink and throw their bottles and cans out their car windows and onto our property as they drive by. Each house has at least 6 to 8 cars parked in its driveway on given night. There have been a few dogs that now are hanging around, and "don't belong to anyone" which is what we are always told. Loud music every morning and every evening. Sometimes the house behind us has up to 20 plus cars and 40 people and they are having soccer games in their yard. For more than a year at one house there were shoes tied up dangling from the tree closest to the road and we were told that was the sign that drugs were sold out of the house. York county police sure made a lot of visits there. We are just really tired of all of it. I have tried to contact Louis Stacey on more than one occasion and he refuses to return my calls or speak with me. At one time it was so bad that I threatened to call ICE or INS and see how many of his workers were "Legal" and within hours his Vice-President was on my door step with one of the Mexican formans asking what he could do to help us that they did not want any trouble. I am wondering what the code is for how many people you can have living in one house? I know that he has been in trouble before for having to many in one house and the conditions that they were living under. We have called law enforcement, but because we are on the county line, one county says we are not in their jurisdiction and the other county refuses to come all the way out here for such complaints. We are at the end of our rope and hope you can help us!!
