Thanks for reporting this. We want our neighborhood to be safe. Speedbumps certainly would slow those speeders down!

Unfortunately, with every third car dangerously exceeding the speed limit, that is not a deterrent.

But I appreciate the advice, and in the case of another accident, I will try.

Someone on Jefferson St. Just made a similar complaint and got this response:

"Thank your for bringing your concern to the attention of the Princeton Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau. This information will be shared with the Patrol Bureau and a request for extra speed enforcement by the same will be made."

We here on John St would appreciate the same attention. Thank you!

I appreciate your continued concern and point of view on this matter and will gladly do the same for you and the rest of the Witherspoon-Jackson neighborhood. My initial response to you dated on 4/1/2019 was tailored a bit differently due to the aforementioned actions of the car which reportedly jumped the curb and my desire to attempt to further investigate the incident via trying to secure the vehicle's description and/or license plate number. What is needed here is a road diet... narrower streets would force cars to slow down. Wide streets are designed for fast cars. That plus turns that require more or a 90% degree maneuver and now broad curve that are like an off ramp.

I would recommend that everyone in this string try to attend the special Princeton Council meeting on Oct. 21, 7 p.m. at Witherspoon Hall. The main topic will be speeding. I live in Jugtown and, like W-J, the Tree Streets and the Seminary neighborhood, cut-through speeding on narrow streets is a big problem. Since Princeton is an employment center and tourist destination, speeding is an issue throughout the town, but in neighborhoods that predate the widespread use of the automobile, it is keenly felt. I know that Princeton Police's Traffic Safety Unit is aware of these problems and the challenges they face in enforcement. I trust the meeting will be productive.
