Description

I have previously written in on report #3876763 on 11/14/2017 regarding a deer crossing sign is needed on Millerfield Rd and Shurling Dr. I was instructed to call GDOT. I did that then and I did that on Friday. I was told by Tyrone at GDOT that the City of Macon was responsible for contacting GDOT if they determine a sign is needed. Here is a problem that needs further intervention. The deer live throughout this area. They are always going to cross the road for grazing. It is usually at night. Most drivers do not obey the speed limit on either road, therefore making it harder to stop and they are not thinking a deer will be crossing these two roads. Therefore resulting in an accident. While I was out of town my neighbor states another deer was hit about 2 months ago. A policer officer came and shot him to put him out of his suffering. I'm simply trying to get a sign to alert the drivers of a possible problem that they can alter their driving accordingly and the deer don't have to keep geeting hit. The deer in the picture was hit on Friday morning. My neighbor and I called Public Works to report it and ask to have it removed. It was around 3:00 PM, I called again, I was told they probably couldnt get to it today. We cringed as we watched the speedy cars, tractor trailer trucks, and delivery trucks try to avoid hitting it again and again. This could have caused another accident. A neighbor was able to move it to the open field beside Jones Funeral Home and 3025 Millerfield Rd. It still needs to be removed from the field. The odor will become unbearable. You can see the ongoing problem of dead deer is not so simple. Thank you.
