Description
Please work on the left turn signal coming out of Brier Creek Country Club on Arnold Palmer and entering onto Brier Creek Parkway. I have seen so many close calls (and been in one myself) in addition to the numerous accidents. Just last week a car rolled on its side after a violent collision. There is already a turn signal in place for the other direction. Visibility coming out of BCC is limited and makes this left turn very dangerous. A traffic light coming out of BCC onto Alexander Drive would also be welcome.

NCDOT will begin an investigation into the existing roadway conditions, accident history, traffic volumes, etc. Their investigation should be completed in 6-8 weeks.
Thank you.

Also the light is long and I've seen people get tired of waiting and turn left on red

The intersection of Brier Creek Parkway and Arnold Palmer Dr. is not signalized. It was studied for signalization in 2006, 2007 and 2010 (September). City staff did not recommend signalization for any of the studies because no volume warrants in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) were met and there was a very low reported crash history which a signal could correct. Brier Creek Parkway falls on the State Highway System and the city can only make recommendations to the State. The intersection of Brier Creek Parkway and Lumley Dr. is signalized.
City Staff also conducted a signal study for TW Alexander Dr. and Brier Club Lane in concordance with state and national standards. This location did meet several warrants in the MUTCD however not enough for staff to recommend signalization. The crash experience was also reviewed and there was a very low reported crash history which a signal could correct. TW Alexander Dr. falls on the State Highway System. We conduct signal studies for any intersection in the City limit however NCDOT has to concur before a signal can be installed on any intersection in their network. We have forwarded our study to Division 5 for consideration.
