I can't believe that someone would spend the time to go and report this. Next time, let's go find a pothole to report, or some trash to report, or something else that actually needs a city official's attention that will benefit everyone.

Joe, the fact that DGS is not doing their jobs is part of the problem. Actually, it is THE problem. The waste of gas goes on all the time as well and it should be an issue as well.

Hey Joe—perhaps you are unaware of the significant public health risks to young children from idling. I live in the neighborhood and have a couple of kids. Perhaps you don’t care about needless carbon emissions, or needless waste of fuel, or air quality for children and the elderly, but your fellow citizens have every right to be concerned about these issues. And personally, I have at least a half dozen trash cases open—by your logic, to the benefit of all (but the OP’s concerns are not?)—that DGS has yet to address going on 2 months. Residents have a right to want clean and smooth streets and a more considerate and effective DGS at the same time.

As a parent to kids with asthma, I appreciate someone bringing this issue to light. Maybe the driver doesn’t know about the environmental impact of idling or how children in urban areas have higher incidence of asthma. I hope that by talking about the issue, DGS workers can be mindful to not idle unnecessarily.
