More power to the folks who have had numerous cars come onyo their property. Speed and enforcement is the answer. Sidewalks are great and lets do that too. Cars go to fast, the speed limit is 25 and they average 40. Put up speed bumps and the issue is solved for pedestrians and the property owners. I vote to KEEP the barriers up.

There appear to be cameras on the poles advising passersby that they are being recorded.

This house also has a boat on the south side of the house in its front yard. Because it is a corner this is NOT, by code a side yard. This is the entrance to the community and it needs to be addressed. Now it appears that the boat is in the water somewhere and it is just a boat trailer. Still a violation. For whatever reason this homeowner thinks that because he was in the Coast Guard, he is above the rules/codes/laws that apply to everyone else. Apply the code evenly to all!

CR, if we allow everyone to violate codes because they want to, we basically remove the rule of law/code from our community. I empathize with their situation regarding cars, I bike that street everyday and it's extremely dangerous, but that doesn't allow someone to take the law/code into their own hands and do as they see fit. Additionally, this house is basically the first house that you see when you pull into our neighborhood. . . the camera signs and such are flat out tacky!

As you can see in the photo from Google the boat and trailer are behind the front line of the house. Perfectly within code.

Stee911 - You need to read the code again. They are not within code. Because this is a corner house it has no "side yard." The code is very specific about this. The boat and trailer are in direct violation of the code.

16.40.100.5. For your reading pleasure.

Stee911 - the first paragraph which states " Any domestic equipment parked, placed, or stored on neighborhood zoned property outside a fully enclosed structure shall not exceed 35 feet in overall length, shall not exceed eight feet in width and shall not exceed 12 feet in overall height. Whenever a piece of domestic equipment is parked, placed or stored on a trailer specifically designed to transport or carry the domestic equipment, this condition shall be counted as one piece of domestic equipment for purposes of this subsection" applies here when the boat is on the trailer as it is taller than 12' but wait, there's more!

A person may park, place or store domestic equipment outside a fully enclosed structure provided all of the following conditions are met:

1. The equipment is parked, placed or stored in the rear yard, in the INTERIOR SIDE YARD (this boat is on on the interior), or in the allowable buildable area for a principal or accessory structure; however, it shall not be parked, placed or stored in the front yard, IN THE STREET SIDE YARD (this house is a corner and therefore both side yards are street side yards), or in the buildable area to the front of the principal structure.

2. When parked, placed or stored within any buildable area between the street side yard and the side of the principal structure, or within 50 feet of any street right-of-way, measured from the edge of the traveled road bed, equipment *********must be shielded from view from the street right-of-way by a solid six-foot high fence*******. Any portion of the required six-foot high shielding may also be accomplished with maintained vegetation forming a solid hedge. Any gate used to comply with this shielding requirement must also be solid, six feet high, and be kept closed whenever the equipment is not being moved through the gate. When any shielding is required, it must be located on the property where the equipment is stored, and the location, height and construction of the shielding must comply with all applicable ordinances and laws.

This "behind the front line of the house" is a myth and not stated in the code anywhere. In fact, the Code is very specific about what is allowed.

IN THE STREET SIDE YARD (this house is a corner and therefore both side yards are street side yards), I was unaware that the code uses parenthesis and declares that a corner lot doesn't have an interior side yard. I went and looked and the trailer is in an interior side yard with the street side side being the front yard and Causeway south. Because you say it doesn't make it right. Thr boat and trailer are behind the front of the house on an interior side( my interpretation).

Apparently, someone's dog pooped in someone's else's yard and they are going to complain about everything in retaliation. That's sad.

It doesn't work that way. You are also focused on one provision. Although it is clear what a side yard is as it relates to a corner property, let's say I agree with you for argument's sake. You need to read further only to see that the 50' rule then applies. Furthermore, when the boat is placed upon the trailer it is higher than the allowed 12' - There is no debate here. They an keep the boat in their side yard BEHIND a 6' solid fence.

The posts that are erected on the corner are not on the owners property. they are on the easement and right in the crosswalk for 2 or them. It’s a hazard for walkers, bikers & runners. You cannot safely get out of the way quickly if you need to.
