I agree, I have one sleeping on my car every night. He walks through my back patio like it’s his home. My patio smells like cat pee. Have to clean almost every day.
When he jumps up and down from my car he scratches the finish. If people want to feed cats, take them to your own property. Don’t feed strays unless you spey and neuter

Thank you for brining this matter to our attention. The Surfside Police Department had a program to capture, neuter an release feral cats, but the program depended on grant funds which ran out. This issue should be discussed with the Town Commission.

To provide you with a further update, the Town of Surfside is currently in the process of developing a trap, neuter and release program in collaboration with the Friends of Surfside Cats, a 501c3 non-profit organization. As part of the program, volunteers help to trap stray cats in a colony; have them spayed or neutered; vaccinate them against rabies; mark their ears for future identification; return them to their original territory where a caretaker provides regular food and shelter; and monitor the colony for newcomers. This process also allows for friendly cats and kittens to be rescued and placed in a home. In the past, Surfside experienced a significant reduction in stray cats due to the success of a similar program. We look forward to rolling this out in the near future.

It sounds like the near future is NOT that near. Right now there are two cats in gestation. The town can afford to splurge on a lot of unnecessary events/programs but can’t allocate funds to control the stray cat population? Unacceptable!

Let’s get some of them out of Town and adopted elsewhere. There are too many here

Thank you for your comment. We understand your concerns. The Town is working with the volunteer organization to formulate a concrete timeline for the program. This program must be approved by the Town Commission for it to be implemented . However, as we mentioned, the Friends of Surfside Cats is a non-profit organization which accepts volunteers to tackle the issue of stray cats.
