Description
Turning left onto northbound S Airport Blvd from the 380E off-ramp, I was nearly struck as two cars sped through the intersection heading north. I had to break hard to avoid colliding with one of the cars.
I had the right-of-way green arrow, those cars should have had a red light. This is not the first time I have witnessed cars proceeding north through the intersection against the light.
There are two sets of traffic signals on S Airport Blvd at this location (one set on the south side of the overpass, one set on the north side). This issue arises when the south set of signals is red while the north set is green. Is this a source of confusion for drivers? Either drivers are willfully ignoring the red signals, or they just aren't aware of them. I’m not sure what the solution is, but I strongly feel this needs to be addressed. It is only a matter of time before an injury MVC occurs at this spot.
