I just saw the notice that a beautiful old mulberry and a maple in the prime of its life at this location are slated for removal.
As someone who walks under these trees multiple times a day, the idea that a falling branch might hit a person is absurd.
I walk past these trees on my way to work every morning. Removing these trees will leave this part of the walk between Orange and Whitney without much needed shade and will substantially reduce the beauty of the neighborhood.
Given the great beauty of the mulberry and the apparent good health of the nearby maple, I would like the Urban Forester to consider less extreme alternatives before depriving everyone who passes through this intersection of shade for the foreseeable future.
The issue has been resolved. If you need to report a new issue please do so in See Click Fix or call the Department of Parks, Recreation and Trees at (203) 946 - 8004. Thank you.
