Description

The parking meters at Griggs parking lot go to 9pm on Wednesdays even thought the town's rules say that parking is only charged until 8pm. The meter is smart enough to stop at 9pm (the correct time on weekends). This is a software problem that should be fixed. There are no signs indicating what the true parking times are, so unsuspecting people will end up paying more for parking than they need to. This is morally wrong. The actual parking times should be posted or the meters fixed so that everyone knows the correct hours for paying for parking.

The meters in the Griggs lot are maintained by Palmer Square Management. We will let them know of the problem.

Griggs lot is privately owned and do not need to operate under the same rules as we do not have an agreement with Palmer Square Management. We only provide enforcement for that lot, not rates or hours. Please contact Palmer Square Management with your concerns: 609-921-2333.

Thank you. This info is helpful. Can you explain what you mean when you say that the Griggs lot doesn't operate under the same rules but that the parking authority provides enforcement? Do you mean that the times to park at Griggs lot are different than those in the rest of the town? I'm bothered by the idea that the town is possibly enforcing rules that are not publicly displayed so that the public is properly informed. Thank you in advance for the additional information.

Princeton's Ordinance 2017-20, which is the agreement for the town to enforce the parking rules at Griggs Corner Lot, requires that visible signage be placed in the parking lot to advise the public of time limitations and the cost to park there. This part of the ordinance is not being kept up by the private owner of the lot.

Has this been fixed yet? I was told it was referred to Engineering and they were going to contact the owners of Griggs lot, but I haven't seen any changes at Griggs lot yet.

The pay station does reflect the correct hours. If there is a particular meter or pay station with the wrong info, please let us know where it is so it can be corrected. As of this time today, the times are correct on the pay station.

Are the hours of the meters posted on the pay station? If so, where on the machine are they posted? I didn't see them last week. The machine only tells you how much you can pay. It doesn't tell you in advance what the hours are. I apologize if I'm missing something.

Yes, those are on the pay stations. The screens scroll through and list the parking info including rates and hours of operation.
