this has been a problem for over a year, maybe now TWO!!! years. Does the City of Berkeley want to be the cause of a fatal injury?

This public health hazard has been permitted to remain for well over one year despite numerous, repeated reports. It is also a human tragedy for the poor soul who is allowed to keep squatting in the midst of a residential neighborhood adjacent to a Totland and a children's playground. The City of Berkeley has essentially allowed one mentally ill person to commandeer an entire public park. No one wants to bring children or themselves into an area with garbage, rodents, feces, and heaven knows what else. This is the most misguided public policy, if that's what it is, to be compassionate and caring. It is the opposite and it is shameful that it's been allowed to go one and on. It's become a full time job for the neighbors to protest this, and a frustrating one since nothing happens to remedy it permanently.
