City of Hammond assigned this issue to Graffiti Removal

We just moved there. My kids went once and won't go back even though our front door is right at the playground. The behavior of the unaccompanied children there is not worth the hassle.

I agree!!! It’s upsetting how I pay taxes and my kids cant even enjoy Edison Park because of these kids who are rude and bullies, constantly swearing kids off the swings and all!!! And to top it off some smoke weed in front of young kids including my 2 month old baby... Where are the parents???? I understand some have no choice and need to work but there’s a lot of parents who could careless how their children behave and constantly justify their actions instead of disciplining them.. not understanding that WE are the once that deal with their kids I think kids should only be allowed in the park with a RESPONSIBLE parent or guardian..

I would call the cops to come and deal with these hooligans while they are at the park. So they can start to build up a record. LCJC is calling their names.

Has this been brought up at the neighborhood meetings ? Few ideas. How about we park the ESDA car next door that never moves in the parking lot every so often. Or maybe we can get them to walk around the park every so often. Don't they work for the city ? People need to to also control thier kids and talk with them. Maybe some city person come by and have a talk with the parents and kids?school can talk with them all ? Signage ? Someone needs to make sure or post that kids must have parents. What if they get hurt or disappear how the parents to know ?

I bet most of those kids parents have cars with Illinois plates on their Cars

It was a nice idea but the money would have been better spent fixing the pool. Maybe constant patrols around the park. ITs only going to get worse with summer coming.

Graffiti was removed this morning, transferring to Police Dept.
