Description
Last night, I heard from my neighbor that a middle school student on a skateboard was struck by a driver while the student was crossing Broadway on San Jose Avenue. Ambulance and police came to the scene. The intersection of Broadway and San Jose Avenue has been very dangerous because drivers speed above 25 mph (even above 40 mph) throughout the day and night. The crosswalk had a center pedestrian sign that was knocked down several weeks ago, but hasn't been replaced. There should be flashing lights along the crosswalk and on the two pedestrian crossing signs along the sidewalks to alert cars to slow down and stop for pedestrians. It would be even better if this intersection had 4-way stop signs to prevent more accidents.
