This needs to stop!

I called APD at 7:20 about them racing through the closed roads of Washington Park. All the more reason why the city should maintain the barricades to kept motor vehicles off of Washington Park’s closed roads.

I got home tonight at 9:30 and was unloading groceries from my car when an atv flies by me on 2 wheels. This is on Morris, a one way street with lots of kids... If the police can't get a handle on this what are we supposed to do? I'm ready to put spikes down and see what happens.

It’s 11:53PM – after several calls to APD throughout the evening, answered by uninterested parties – the noise continues. The racing continues. When it will stop? Nobody knows. Not until the city finishes running down the clock on someone being killed or injured. And then somehow the public will be at fault for not being involved enough in reporting. What’s the old adage? See something, say something? There should be an asterisk: *unless it involves ATVs and/or dirt bikes.

Just going to add my 2 cents. I have almost been run over on Dana avenue by these guys twice now. I see them race by kids playing in the street and I feel that it is just a matter of time until someone gets hurt or worse. Can someone tell me what the actual heck is being done about these people? Why is this allowed to continue? Any other city would've rounded them up the first time. Why is Albany going down the tubes? Why does no one seem to care?

I agree with all of you, this has to be stopped. Someone will be killed and then it will be important to the media and the mayor

We have conducted several operations to locate riders and confiscate vehicle. If you have any information that you can pass along. If this happens again please continue to call police dispatch at 438-4000, and a police unit will be dispatched to handle the complaint.

With all due respect to APD, this issue needs to be addressed by more than beat cops. Clearly whatever you are doing is not working. And that’s not a jab at the beat cops - I’m sure they’re doing their best, but there’s only 2 of them. This is a huge public safety concern and more resources need to be dedicated to solving this problem.

We have run several initiatives in order stop/identify riders. Any information about riders or vehicle storage locations would be helpful. Any pertinent info can be forwarded to your beat cop.
