This happens because our city government and APD are completely useless and do not care about us. Park street is also transforming into a zoo thanks to them ignoring complaints about a growing homeless element there from multiple residents for the past several years. As I was walking down there yesterday I had a bunch of intoxicated homeless get into my face and try to intimidate me as I was walking past their group by the antique shop. I reported it to APD non-emergency and the rude and incompetent dispatcher gave me attitude and told me about how we need to be "educated" about the "rights" of the homeless and that if we have a problem with it, we should just leave. I'm literally n ot even making this up, she literally said that. That tells you everything you need to know about our city government. They are worthless and not looking out for our interests. They will drive this entire island into total ruin if we don't act soon. We need to drain the swamp asap

Well, I wish you well with you endeavor of draining the swamp. As someone who feels that there isn't a swamp to be drained, just people who need help, if that was me on Park Street, I would have called 911, made the report, and made sure APD responded. Public intoxication is a crime. Yes, homeless people have rights, but so does everyone. If a crime is being committed, then there are consequences. It is up to those who care to follow thru.

If a crime is being committed, there are normally consequences in normal american cities. Alameda is not one of those cities. There are no consequences for crime here. The swamp is in need of draining

Oh and gabby if you'd like, I also have an entire year's worth of hard video evidence proving conclusively that the city government knowingly allows all kinds of illegal activities take place on the island with impunity even as I report and document them diligently. I have video proof of APD letting a person trespass on me and all of my neighbor's properties every week to steal from them for an entire year. I have video, photos, police incident report numbers, emails, call logs. etc I have HARD proof that APD knowingly ignores crime and lets criminals break laws with impunity. This is just one example, I have an entire year's worth of video footage of similar instances of APD knowingly letting criminals break the law.

APD don't even bother following the law themselves. More than half the time I see APD vehicles driving on the street, they drive recklessly, run stop signs and never use their turn signals. APD is a joke.

No, but thank you for the offer. This complaint that you have taken over is not about APD. The beauty of the First Amendment is that it is for everyone, even those who do not agree with you. 1.) I haven't "taken over" this complaint at all. The person who originally submitted this still retains full ownership of their issue, and my comments here are pertinent to a larger problem that this issue belongs to.

2.) I'm glad to know that you refuse to see hard, solid evidence of the fact that Alameda city government is in fact a proverbial, uninterrupted swamp of corruption and negligence so that you can continue believing that there is no swamp to drain even in the face of mountains of evidence showing otherwise. It is indeed beautiful that the 1st amendment lets me point out facts like the fact that our city government is a swamp, and that it allows people like you to ignore evidence and continue believing the falsehood that Alameda city government is somehow not a swamp. Just like you're also allowed to believe the earth is flat, even when every scientist on earth vehemently disagrees and can prove conclusively that it's false. It is great that you can hold even the most false beliefs in this country, even in the face of mountains of evidence that prove otherwise.

3.) I don't appreciate your condescending tone. People are rightfully ticked off (and I am one of them) at this worthless city government for letting our city deteriorate to the state its in now, and continue allowing to grow worse and fester instead of resolving the problem. We have every right to be mad and to point out the swamp that is our city government and that it needs draining. Your condescending responses to our well-merited concerns about this city government are not welcome

The homeless encampment at the PARK near the Coast Guard. Oh my goodness it was a beautiful park and no longer safe? They need an area with services, bathrooms, showers to transition back to a normal life if they are drug addicts, and if they have mental issues they need services quality care, medication etc. I never imagined seeing so many homeless encampments in my life? The trash, unsanitary conditions. Help!
