Description
New trees and bushes were planted today along the path exiting the main gate. I find this very concerning because the path is already too narrow to allow two carts to pass with both remaining on the path. Previously, you had the ability to move off the path towards the street to allow the other cart to pass. Now, with the new plantings, that option is not available. I’m all for beautifying the main gate area, but I don’t think it should be done by sacrificing safety.

Hello! Thank you for your submission. The right side of the Main Gate exit lane has been evaluated on a multitude of instances wherein staff and our Public Works Committee has worked towards finding the most amenable solution for the deterioration of grass, et al in this area.
This path is one of the most highly trafficked paths; however, golf carts tend to travel at accelerated speeds - swerving off to the side of the path thus damaging the area alongside the path. The additional enhancement to this area was agreed upon by our resident-comprised Public Works Committee and Center Island Committee, will improve the aesthetics of this area and is consistent with the vegetative layout at many of our other gatehouses.
Our goal with this new enhancement is also to encourage all traffic on this path to utilize slower speeds and be cognizant of the surroundings to prevent further damage and deterioration to this area. As an aside, the current design allows for cart traffic to slow down and allow carts to position themselves off the path to allow for other traffic to pass.
During the installation process, we have continued to evaluate the area to ensure that adequate space is available for carts to pass one another at reduced speeds. We will continue to monitor the area to ensure there are no other safety concerns.
