The Beauty Mall has caged in the sidewalks on their building. I think this could be a fire hazard as it impacts the egress from the building during an emergency. Additionally wood pallets are often left in the front of the building after shipments are received.

Well there are a lot of things wrong with your statement. The newcomers are locals...they own homes, they live here, they work here...they are very much so local. They may however, not be willing to overlook buildings in disrepair...as they shouldn't. If it's not an acceptable condition in Five Points...it's not an acceptable condition on New Bern Ave.
So to all those thinking newcomers are "punishing" the minority community...I would guess it would be better for you to work together, otherwise you may find yourselves pushed out. Accepting a lower standard for Southeast has to end.
