The person has a very well-kept hedge to provide green plants and privacy, and someone calls it "tall grass or weeds." Do people in Jersey City never tire of asphalt and concrete?
I have to agree with Mary, it looks well kept and trimmed, and I see many hedges as such throughout J.C. Unless the hedges are made to grow away from and through the fence onto the sidewalk area this shouldn't be a violation.
I have no issue with the hedges, they are quite nice and I'm all about more greenery. I think a bigger issue is that sign pole placement. Also another fix (although more expensive) would be to widen the sidewalk and decrease the width of the street (it has more than enough space for one travel and one parking lane). There is definitely enough ped traffic to justify it.
It is a narrow street with a narrow sidewalk similar to that of Franklin St. in the Heights section. But yes plenty of room to widen the pedestrian walk area. Also I am surprised there is not a bicycle lane seeing that is a one-way street with parking on only one side of the street.
Ron - this is a short one-way portion of the street that runs in an opposite direction than the other end of Van Reypen, and doesn't seem to connect to any other bike lane street.
