Description

Dust:

In the dry summer months Hollywood has a dust problem. This is caused by excessive speeding on Hollywood from Maple to Center. The speeders are crossing Center and going further down Hollywood. There are several solutions:

1) Leave potholes in the Hollywood dirt road. These act as inexpensive speed bumps. All that is needed is to reduce the number of times per year Hollywood is graded.

2) Actually create a speed bump on Hollywood.

3) During the dust season close Hollywood (east) at Center. This would still allow access to all houses but will route traffic to paved roads such as Center, Dexter, and Pamela.

4) Pave Hollywood. The neighborhood has tried to get this done but if it is happening the progress is excessively slow.

Options 1 and 3 would actually reduce costs for Ann Arbor and would be my recommendation.

This post was created on May 14, 2019, as Hollywood was being graded for no clear reason except some shallow potholes that would cause no problems if driven through at a reasonable speed.

Thank you,

Dale Lancaster (695 Vine Court (facing Hollywood)
