Either address the existing ineffective speed humps or install the stop sign. Our own neighbors are the worst offenders and it’s only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs with the kids that live and walk on those streets especially during morning and afternoon bus times.

STOP sign application is regulated by federal guidelines. STOP sign should be installed in a manner that minimizes the numbers of vehicles having to stop. In most cases, the street carrying the lowest volume of traffic should be stopped. In order to qualify for a multiway STOP control, the combined vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle volume entering the intersection from the minor street approaches (total of both approaches) averages at least 200 units per hour for 8 hours during a day. Total vehicular volume entering intersection from major street approaches (total of both approaches) averages at least 300 vehicles per hour for any 8 hours of the day. A multiway stop warrant study was completed for the subject intersection with each approach volumes collected during a turning movement count on June 6th, 2019. The federal warrants at this subject intersection are not satisfied at criteria mentioned before, a multi-way stop is not recommended at the intersection of Hale Haven Drive at Elberta Drive.
