Description

This spot is one of the most dangerous on all of the notoriously dangerous Kennedy Blvd. The senior home here at 2555 JFK Blvd is serviced by multiple Bus companies that shuttle seniors. The huge problem is that this area is off a blind turn and the bus drivers double park in the right lane and do not avail themselves of the use of the marked spot in front of the doorway... causing many accidents. On Monday a nasty accident occurred because of this that involved a 6 month old child. Only by the grace of the Lord was the baby not injured. Something needs to be done to eliminate this problem. The County Sheriff and JCPD should start issuing tickets to these buses. the Hudson County JFK Boulevard (CR -501) Intersection Safety Improvement Project should start here! ZERO TOLERANCE!

I, personally have seen several accidents caused by this condition. The bus drivers who park in the driving lane are at fault and they should be held accountable by the Hudson County Sheriffs officers and the Jersey City Police.

I lived at the intersection of JFK and duncan and couldbt agree more. this is a huge dangerous spot with high risk.

Thank you.. We had a fatality in the crosswalk one block north of that intersection and a car hit a pedestrian in the crosswalk at that corner (Duncan and JFK) not to mention dozens of crashes at at that very curve. I know that the State of NJ did a huge traffic study and there were some calming techniques included and added but the human component here needs to be addressed and violations and penalties enforced. The issue with cars coming round that slight curve at a speed over 25 mph is one thing but then to have these busses and cars double park there is a fatality waiting to happen. The city is on notice that this is an issue and should act so that in retrospect no one can say they were not aware.

Thank you sooooo much!... If a truck or bus was behind me instead of a car when I was rear ended because a bus was double parked in the left lane instead of the unoccupied loading area... I would either be in the ICU.....or dead... Only the by the grace of our Lord...

Ok, we sent this to the County many years ago, because we are not legally allowed to do anything to this intersection. If we could fix this issue, we would have. So you have reopened this issue knowing it will remain open in perpetuity and that the actual authority that can affect change, will not be reading this? I am just making sure you understand this and that while we followed up years ago, this was inadvertently filed under a category that no longer exists, hence me having to go back through years later and closing out issues that were properly handled and passed on to the agency that has authority and legal responsibility over a County road (including the full intersection).

This road is maintained by the Hudson County Division of Roads and Bridges and the City is not allowed to alter or make repairs to this road or any of its intersections. You can contact them through their online form

Jersey City Traffic Engineering will not be able to create any signage or do a pedestrian Safety study as conveyed to the RRC back in May of 2019. However, the Jersey City Police Division enforces all driving/parking infractions along this route. Therefore this issue is being reassigned to the RRC so they can forward this issue to a Public Safety since they use a different reporting and tracking system (due to the nature of the information they collect and store).
