I contacted ALDOT and had a long discussion with them about all the changes and how it affects everyone. This is just one of the topics we talked about. It seems that Huntsville is going to a right turn entrance, right turn exit for a lot of areas. I was told that this prevents people from cutting across traffic when going into and out of a business. I dont fully agree with the concept, but I can see their reasons since they think most accidents happen when people cross traffic. The methods they are using to fix that problem is going to cause more u-turns and people breaking traffic laws (cutting into oncoming traffic for short distances) to get where they are going but it does mean less vehicles crossing traffic when someone makes a left turn into and out of a business.
