Here's a photo of the area behind 368 Broadway where the many rats were feasting last night. Note also that the neighbor at 54 Lee Street has a new planting bed that now has numerous burrow holes in it - likely from the rats who can easy access the yard from under the fence at the rear of 368 Broadway.

that is just disgusting....and behind a DAYCARE, of all things??

My sense is that the people who operate Rock and Roll Day Care are probably not the problem, but they certainly have to live with the consequences. There are apartments upstairs who also use this area for the rubbish and recycling and they are not always good about taking their barrels out and in or bothering to close the (often overstuffed) containers. The building owner really should hire someone to manage the trash, i.e. to monitor it during the week and to take the barrels out Tuesday night, return them after collection, and regularly clean them. Leaving that responsibility to the tenants hasn't worked.

Yes, there are many rat sightings near this property, I've also see them near the side doorway that opens on Lee Street. The other night I saw a large rat running into one of the holes near the side door of the purple house (362 Broadway at Broadway Terrace) that is under interior demolition.

Yes, there is an entry point for rodents on the Lee Street side of 368 Broadway. This runs directly behind the Montessori school at that end of the building. See picture.

I see them in many parts of cambridge, usually at night, scurrying out from some crevasse between houses and across a street...I've also seen a coyote trotting down my street at 3am! I think the answer to the rat problem is more coyotes!!

I have met with 54 Lee owner last week. Indeed there is a large problem under the deck where the trash is kept behind 370 Broadway. The owner has been notified and has responded.
