Your concerns will be discussed at the next scheduled Traffic Safety Committee Meeting scheduled for Monday, 6/3/2019 and directly conveyed to the Municipal Engineer. Ms. Deanna Stockton, who is currently already working on a study for the Hamilton Ave - Wiggins Street corridor as it relates to attempting to increase both bicyclist and pedestrian safety in the area. In addition, the Police Department will give the intersection extra attention in relation to your reported observations as they relate to both 39:4-98 (Speeding) and 39: 4-36 (Failure of Motorist to Stop/Yield Right Of Way to Pedestrians in Marked Crosswalk) violations. This intersection should be a 4-way stop.

Note that there is the same issue at the crossing at Wiggins and N. Tulane - and there is actually a small pedestrian sign in the middle of the road at that intersection. Traffic travels much too fast on Wiggins - almost no one is doing the 25 MPH speed limit.

A couple of decades ago, the municipal government removed the speedbumps located on Wiggins near Hamilton, so don't expect the current traffic department to reverse this policy towards pedestrians. Maybe this case should also be referred to Sustainable Princeton, the organization promoting walking around town and find out what if they can walk the walk rather than just talk the talk..

While the Borough used to allow speed humps, during consolidation with the Township, the Council adopted the Townships ordinance forbidding the use of speed humps. I would advocate this should be changed to allow our engineers more flexibility in dealing with these speeding issues.

If speedbumps are now forbidden, what would you call those road elevations on Mercer Street near Marquand Park? Or is the West End more equal than the rest of us?
