UPDATE: This is not a Property Maintenance Ordinance (PMO) case for Code Enforcement to address but should be addressed by the police department as well as the Building and Planning Divisions. This has been referred to them for follow-up. Thanks again for using SeeClickFix.

Calling the media won't help. They have already been convinced -- by numerous, recurring cases exactly like this one -- that Vallejo is a disaster area. Blatant illegality occurs. The city and the PD do nothing about it. No fresh news there.

Any issues that are "forwarded" to Planning or Building Divisions are never acknowledged or received, no follow up occurs. What do we have to do to get this at the very least on the books as an ongoing violation. There was a whole Nextdoor conversation that was trying to get this addressed, what was the upshot of that? I beleive Ken Szutu was heading it up. You might try get in contact with him through Nextdoor.com.

And does Planning division have sworn officers to enforce the codes/laws? I bet not.....

Honestly, this make me really sad that my city cannot effectively address this and instead seems to be saying 'it's no my job'. It has got me thinking if I really want to stay here.

This property sits between a smoke shop and a liquor store.I know the owner and he for sure does not do any sort of drugs or condone them being done.This area of vallejo as a whole has been an issue so to point out this one property is completely unfair.

This is an inaccurate statement about the property.Continuing accusations that are untrue and baseless will result in a lawsuit against the parties that are known already to be abusing this platform to harass and defame.This unfairly portraits this property in a way that is untrue and unfair for the businesses and tenants that are there.It is located between a smoke shop and liquor store and across the street from a notorious bar.Any odd or illegal activity if anything is coming in and out of those establishments not this one

All kinds of homeless people with bags of clothing can be seen going into this buildings bottom business store fronts, which is illegal, becuase its not zoned for residential. Prostitutes come in and out of this building at all hours of the day and night. Drug deals are happening out in the open. Unregistered broken down cars park in front of this building all day with homeless thugs trying to repair them and blocking the sidewalk.
The police will continue to be called to rid the streets of these unregistered vehicles being parked in front of this building and across the street and being left thier all day.
This nieghborhood will not be intimidated by these homeless thugs squatting inside this building illegally.
The business community and family homes sorrounding this trashy building will not let the thugs living inside this building take over this community.

This building is full homeless thugs and prostitutes and unregistered cars being parked in front and across the street.

Dee J how can people doing illegal acts in our neighborhood in order to survive afford a lawyer?
Especially you being one of them.
A constant flow of pedophiles can be seen going into this building and the police and D. A. has been made aware.
Can't wait till this building is raided and shut down for good.

SUMMARY OF THE CODE ENFORCEMENT PROCESS
After a violation is reported, a code enforcement officer is assigned to conduct an inspection, make a determination as to whether the report is valid or unfounded, open up a case and issue warnings and notices when valid and allow approximately 30 days for correction. If the property is still found to be non-compliant following the time allotted for correction and a second inspection, the code enforcement officer will continue with enforcement, which could include the issuance of a notice of violation or administrative citation. If a property owner continues to remain non-compliant, the Code Enforcement Officer can determine whether or not to move forward with obtaining a warrant to have contractors abate (fix) the violations on the property. While the enforcement process moves forward, simultaneously on the financial side, the property is liened for any nonpayment after 30 days, late fees are imposed on unpaid citations, and any unpaid fines are then assessed onto the owner’s property taxes as a special assessment.

A year later……

This place continues to house people living inside the bottom of this building which is meant for commercial use, NOT residential.
Drugs are continually being sold out of this building.
Squatters still live inside this building.
When is the city going shut it down for good.
