Deskripsyon
The Patrons of La Perla Restaurant of 295 Cook Ave. and Angel's Grocery of 293 Cook Ave. frequently block the driveways of the neighboring homes. Most affected are ALC Auto Repair, and the homes on Cook Ave between Summer and Winsthrop streets.
This happens mostly during the afternoon and again during the evening. This obviously makes it hard to leave or enter your home. I would like to see sings that state "do not block driveway." I would also like to see a stronger police presence.

This is a definite issue. I'm glad that there is a place to report issues like this. It is extremely aggravating when you can't pull into your own driveway after a long day of work. The patrons of both of these establishments really don't care about the neighbors here. I can't recall how many times I have had to find the owners of the cars blocking my driveway and the best response I get is, "I was only here for a few seconds."
Thanks for reporting this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The driveways are still being blocked. We see plenty of police officers who dine at the restaurant but not much is being done about the parking conditions. We understand that a car blocking a driveway is not a priority for police officers when there are worse crimes being committed but ignoring the problem when it is right in front of you is unacceptable.
It is not only the responsibility of the police to take notice when driving by but it is the responsibility of the business owners to educate their patrons as well. You can't just open up shop in a neighborhood and pocket the money you make there while you negatively effect the quality of life of the families who live there.
When you nicely ask the owners of the cars to move you usually get insulted, harassed and threatened with violence. If that wasn't enough, they litter the front of you property with trash.
How can we find out the status of these "no parking" signs? Can the city install some trash cans or is that a state issue as well?
