  St. Marys High School is nearby (660 students), as is King Middle School (1100 students). Jefferson has 450 students and Crowden has about 100-200. So altogether, there are about 2000 students within 3 blocks of this intersection who may cross here. Many of these students walk down or cross Sacramento Street.

  This is a much-used crossing point for people visiting Monterey Market and adjacent shops.

  Agreed: this is a difficult intersection to cross. Traffic is still at Sacramento St. speeds, even though the lanes are narrower here.
