Description
I want to bring my son to the beach at Gull Park (or any of the parks), but the conditions are just disgusting. See the picture. Stupid Canada Goose poop and sheer neglect makes what could be a nice asset to our city look like a polluted river in China.
Do we have the equipment and means to clean the beach periodically? Hook one of those screens used to even out a baseball field infield to a ride on lawnmower and pull it across the beach a few times. Take a steel rake to those areas where weeds and algae have taken over.
It doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult with the right equipment.

When I next decide to have a picnic there, I’m going to bring my big rake to clean the immediate area, so my son can play. It may work, but I also shouldn’t have to take it into my own hands like this.

Thank you for reporting. Staff has raked up droppings and we will continue to monitor our beaches as this time a year the geese are quite active.
The Foster city along with a few neighboring agencies (Belmont, San Mateo, Cal water,) work with a contractor who using humane methods works towards minimizing any population growth of the geese in the region. We saw a slight decrease last year and have yet to receive out count for population this year but suspect it may have increased despite our efforts.
Thank you for reporting the issue. Crews will be out again next week with a field groomer to put the finishing touches on the beach.
