Recently the parking ban for the odd side of the street was enforced on the residents of Chestnut and Elm Streets. Many of us were given tickets for parking in front of our homes (very few of us have driveways) with out any warning, prior notification or a chance to simply move our cars to the even side of the streets.

Yet!

Yet school teachers, parents, church goers, business owners and business customers are CONSTANTLY parking on the odd side of Elm Street EVERY SINGLE DAY, all throughout the day.

It seems ridiculously unfair to give the residents of Chestnut and Edwards Streets parking tickets for parking on the odd side of the street when Elm Street has vehicles allowed to CONSTANTLY parked on the odd side of its street (in front of the Mary E Stapleton Elementary school – 25 Elm Street, the Boston Taiwanese Church – 15 Elm Street, the creepy daycare, and the Chimney Sweep Shop – 7 Elm Street) BLOCKING the view of oncoming traffic from drivers attempting to leave Chestnut Street.

When I myself am trying to turn left or right out of Chestnut Street – onto Elm Street, it is sometimes IMPOSSIBLE to see ANY oncoming traffic from the left or the right because of cars parked on the odd side of Elm Street. Making a left or right turn onto Elm Street is often an extremely dangerous risk. So dangerous in fact, this past January a woman speeding through the Concord/Elm Street light, speeding into the elementary school zone, speeding well over 35 mph in a 20 mph zone, hit my car as I was turning onto Elm Street.

Perhaps the town of Framingham could better serve its residents by monitoring the parking habits of drivers on busy dangerous streets, and not punish residents who are forced to park on the street due to the cramped layout of houses with no driveways.
